Species: Cherry Wood

American Cherry wood species is a smooth, even grained hardwood known for its warm, rich look. With its uniform texture, cherry wood finishes beautifully and is ideal for hardwood flooring, tongue and groove paneling or wood trim.
- Color: Cherry wood has a rich reddish-brown color that deepens beautifully with age. Exposure to sunlight will cause it to more significantly darken and redden.
- Grain: The straight-grain in cherry is more subdued than some other hardwood species. Cherry wood also contains distinctive, unique figures and grains. These features add wonderful interest to cherry flooring. Marks and scratches can be more noticeable on cherry wood because of its hardness and close, even grain.
- Growing Patterns: American Cherry wood (Prunus serotina) is mainly found in the eastern United States where the rich, moist soils of the Appalachians make good growing grounds. It can grow to a height of 100 feet and a diameter of 2 feet.
